 ---

Low crime rates are an indication of peaceful societies that have made landmark steps in development. Most of the time, developed countries have strict laws that pertain to security, and this acts as a challenge to countries with low security and high crime rates economically and socially. Countries that are experiencing low crime rates have taken the initiative of education, health care, and employment of the youths as ways of combating poverty.

We take a closer look below at countries with the world's lowest crime rates and reasons why this is so.

1. ICELAND

Unarmed police, connected community

The good security in Iceland, in my view, is partly because the police are not carrying heavy weapons because the rate of crimes is very low. Besides that, the well-connected community in Iceland has contributed to reducing the rate of crime. There is a strong trust among the populations, and this has minimized tensions and conflicts in the community, mostly because the police treat the people well.

Education

According to the Icelandic government, the emphasis on education resulted in a gradual reduction in crime rates after government investment in programs that promote education and recreational activities for the youth caused the youth's crimes to go down.

2. NEW ZEALAND

Stick gin lows

I believe that what has made New Zealand one of the safest countries in the world include:

While strict laws regulating firearms have reduced gun-related violence, it is very difficult to obtain a firearm in New Zealand.

The involvement of the people in reducing crime and community engagement has further strengthened the peace they enjoy today.

Geographical location

In other words, considering the map of the world, New Zealand is so far from the war zones. From the map, it is evident that New Zealand is the last place on the globe, it means that the New Zealand is far away from the places, where there is a war.

3. Portugal

Police are good

In the past, Portugal faced a lot of problems relating to drugs, but instead of punishment, they focused on treatments of the population. Nowadays, it is one of those countries which has a very low crime rate. It's quite rare to hear on the radio and TV about the crimes that happen in Portugal.

Good relationship between police and the public

Policia in Portugal enjoys a very good relationship with the public. In my opinion, the relationship between Police/Community is the most important factor that helps towards security.

4. Singapore

Strict laws gun and strong punishments

One of the best passports in the world that has access to most countries in the world, Singapore is also one of the countries with the tightest regulations, especially when it comes to corruption and fraud.

With these strict laws, most citizens follow the rules, hence making it a safe place to live and reside with very minimal crimes recorded.

Efficient police

The police in Singapore are well facilitated and act in less time in case of any emergency. CCTV cameras at every nook and corner, which I think has helped a lot in enhancing the safety.

5. Japan

Respectful culture and security technology

Respect and good behavior are highly regarded by the people of Japan. As it is one of the countries most advanced in technology, in public areas, there are cameras everywhere, which limit the opportunity to commit a crime and monitor events in public.

In addition to this, the police in Japan are pretty energetic and can frequently be seen in areas so that they can be as near to the individuals as possible. For severe as well as minor offenses, Japan has some strict laws and policies. Their penalties after going through them are fairly rigid. This keeps individuals from undertaking any offense concerning security.

People's participation is a key factor in the democratic system of Switzerland. Socially, support in terms of economics has made Switzerland, given its high personal income level and good security, one of the countries with the lowest crime rates in the world.

Switzerland also has a high-level job creation system that enhances the quality of life.

Gun regulation

Though many households in Switzerland own firearms, the government regulates them well. I have noticed that in Switzerland, priority is given to addressing people's needs before ensuring security.

Awareness campaigns for inmates and high living standards

Norway focusses on raising awareness among inmates instead of solely imposing strict penalties.

Communities living there also receive good living services and job opportunities, distracting them from committing crimes.

Further, Norway has an educational system teaching more about morals and responsibilities. These help them to solve conflicts amicably in the society. Their way of conflict resolution in Norway is something worth emulating.

Studying, after I came to find Finland has the great education system in the world. Their top-notch education minimizes crime that arises due to poverty and much priority has been given to mental health care also to treat problems which create violence.
